Blue Ridge Weekend

Here are the kids at our favorite playground.  It's about 12 minutes away, in Hillsville, so we don't go all the time, but it's really big and super fun.  They call it the Ladybug Girl playground because it shares some of the same features with a playground in one of their favorite books, Ladybug Girl and Bumblee Boy.

On the same weekend that we went to the pumpkin patch we decided to go explore the Blue Ridge Parkway, which runs pretty close to Galax.  These next pics were taken Friday evening. I just love the look Elijah is giving Cora in this one.

We had a picnic with musubis at this park before heading home at dark.

The next day, Saturday, we headed to the pumpkin patch first thing, then back to the Parkway.  We went to Mabry Mills and explored a bit.

Always collecting flowers
Then we headed back to the Ladybug Girl playground and let the kids play a little bit.  They were sure ready for bed that night!

Betty and I stayed in the car for a bit while the big kids played.
It was a super fun weekend experiencing some of the beauty of this area and of this season.  Fall will always be my favorite time and I'm so happy to be able to share it with our kids.
