Waiting for baby 2014

Here are some more things that we got up to in the month before the baby arrived.

These are a couple of tops I sewed for Cora.  I made these two and one other that I didn't get a picture of that she never wears - so frustrating!  I love them but she doesn't - even though she said she did when I was making them and even gave me input on details like the pockets.  It's really hit or miss sewing for her and even though I try to pay attention to things like comfort and details she likes, like front buttons, floral fabric, pockets, etc, nothing is a sure bet except maybe pink floral.

Here are some of the things we got up to around early February.

Elijah's birthday 2014

Our sweet little Elijah turned 3 on the 29th.  He requested to have "old McDonald's" for dinner.  Then we had a fun, low key family party with an elephant theme, Elijah's favorite animal.  I made a yummy homemade  3 layer chocolate cake with blue buttercream frosting, per Elijah's request.  Cora and Elijah decorated it with skittles and we put an elephant on top for good measure.  That's my new favorite way to decorate birthday cakes - candy border, plastic toy topper, maybe sprinkles and a name or age piped on (but not this time).  Cute and easy and the kids can help!

Big waves 2014

A couple nights last week we drove out to check out the big waves on the North Shore.  The first day it wasn't actually that big, but the kids had fun playing in the sand a bit and we saw a nice sunset.  

Early January 2014

Here are my little chefs in home-sewn chef attire.  Cora has an apron and oven mitts too that I made but wasn't wearing them for this pic.  She is still waiting patiently for me to make her a chef hat too.
